Match on action

Match On Action is making the scene make more sense as it also gives it a smoother look then jump cutting does. It consists of the same action happening but in a different angle creating a story and giving a scene a more prodessional look. Jump cutting just confuses and irritates the audience by jumping locations without an explanation sort of like skipping the story, it would work for a music video but in a film it wouldn't espesially a thriller film because you want the story to make sence so all of the enigma codes get solved in a way you could follow the story.

Camera & camera shots

-White balancing: blue and yellow are the main colours white balancing. Yellow being natural light from the sun and Blue being artificial light

white balance chart
-Focus: This is when you focus on an object or when you don't focus on an object this gives of a blurry effect. This technique can become very useful because it can tell the audience what they should be focusing on. For example you could have your main character focused and the background blurred.

This is a good example of focusing the camera on an important character the audience should be focusing on whilst the background is blurred out with the less likely to be focusing on.
-mystery: to create this with a camera you could obscures the face of a character, use tight shots or some blurry close ups of a characters face

What are the 7 common mistakes people make when filming
1. Back light constantly
2.close up too close
3.don't make every shit too high
4.jogging the camera
5.don't zoom in
6.allow extra time
7.sweeping the scene

Camera shots
- long shots see character from head to toe allows to.show relationship between character and the environment
- mid shot see character from waist up allows audience to connect with character
- close up, from shoulder to head
- point of view, to engage audience with characters motives or what they are looking at

-extreme close up to show specific part of character if eyes then it exaggerates the expression a little bit

Understanding Opening Sequences

We would normally have a title sequences in a movie to tell the audience or give them an idea about what the film is about. There would roughly be 20-30 slates as i have learned from my timeline for Napoleon Dynamite and what what would come first in the slates would be the production company then the main character. The three words that describe the mood and atmosphere of a thriller are suspense, impact and mystery.

Background music is tense
Slates are text
Background pictures

Saul Bass: he was a graphic designer So he would use his bizarre art in opening scene this is one of his works from the movie catch me if you can

Pulp Fiction analysis- this is mysterious because it builds up questions like why is the lady on the floor, why she needs the shot of adrenalin and who are all those people and what are they doing there. It also builds up suspense (tension) because you ask yourself what is going to when the needle hits her and the music in the background helps intensify  that scene making you think is something big going to happen, the camera focusing on her face for a long period of time also make you suspect that something big is going to happen.

Spoiler Review: The Departed

Spoiler Review-The Departed

This was a crime thriller movie that had kept me on the edge on my seat with its plot twists which i think where the highlight of the movie and took me by a big surprise. What is was about is and undercover cop named Billy who successfully infiltrates this Irish mafia/gang which is led by Frank Costello who is obviously doing illegal things but can't get arrested because there is no evidence of that. And mole in the police force named Colin Sullivan who is working for Frank and which is very loyal to him as well (these are the three main characters). Both the police force and the mafia/gang find out that there is someone is working on the other side and it is a race to see who gets found out first.

It has a dark and gritty tone to it in most scenes especially the ones that include torture in them or the ones that show the mafia/gang in their hideout whilst at the same time having a jokey atmosphere to them for example like when the cops are talking amongst themselves they would be insulting each other and joking. Same thing with the mafia/gang members they would be doing that amongst themselves. One thing that bothered me about this film is that it was sometimes hard to understand what they were saying and i think that they focused too much on the main characters their wasn't much character development gone towards everyone else. I would sometimes end up forgetting the names of those characters leading me to be confused as to who they would be talking about.

The best part of this movie for me were the plot twist which in my opinion I think where executed very well you wouldn't of expected Colin who was so loyal and scared of Frank to kill him which releases the suspicion of him being the mole might i add he was one of the main character making you think the movie is finished. But its not so you wouldn't expect Billy who was the guy you was rooting for to just get shot in the head and after finding out who the mole was and arresting him as well making you think the movie is finished again but it's not and thinking anything that threatens Colin is gone he just get shot in the head too thus all three dead and ending the movie. This movie gave me 3 surprises 1 small one a 2 big ones.
Rating this movie's plot twist 9/10

Napoleon Dynamite title scene remake

This was the summer task i had done which helped me understand what goes in a title sequence so things like the production company, actors and the cast that helped make the movie. and the timeline at the bottom helps me know at least how many titles slates are in an opening scene in a movie which is roughly 20 slates. And I now know that the title sequences are there to set up the movie so you understand what the genre is and what the movie will be about. It is also the bit that gives of the enigma codes.
